  1. The ALICE Collaboration reports measurements of the large relative transverse momentum ( k T ) component of jet substructure in p p and Pb-Pb collisions at center-of-mass energy per nucleon pair s NN = 5.02 TeV . Enhancement in the yield of such large- k T emissions in head-on Pb-Pb collisions is predicted to arise from partonic scattering with quasiparticles of the quark-gluon plasma. The analysis utilizes charged-particle jets reconstructed by the anti- k T algorithm with resolution parameter R = 0.2 in the transverse-momentum interval 60 < p T , ch , jet < 80 GeV / c . The soft drop and dynamical grooming algorithms are used to identify high transverse momentum splittings in the jet shower. Comparison of measurements in Pb-Pb and p p collisions shows medium-induced narrowing, corresponding to yield suppression of high- k T splittings, in contrast to the expectation of yield enhancement due to quasiparticle scattering. The measurements are compared to theoretical model calculations incorporating jet modification due to jet-medium interactions (“jet quenching”), both with and without quasiparticle scattering effects. These measurements provide new insight into the underlying mechanisms and theoretical modeling of jet quenching.

  2. A<sc>bstract</sc> We report on the measurement of inclusive, non-prompt, and prompt J/ψ-hadron correlations by the ALICE Collaboration at the CERN Large Hadron Collider in pp collisions at a center-of-mass energy of 13 TeV. The correlations are studied at midrapidity (|y| <0.9) in the transverse momentum rangespT<40 GeV/cfor the J/ψand 0.15< pT<10 GeV/cand |η|<0.9 for the associated hadrons. The measurement is based on minimum bias and high multiplicity data samples corresponding to integrated luminosities ofLint= 34 nb−1andLint= 6.9 pb−1, respectively. In addition, two more data samples are employed, requiring, on top of the minimum bias condition, a threshold on the tower energy ofE= 4 and 9 GeV in the ALICE electromagnetic calorimeters, which correspond to integrated luminosities ofLint= 0.9 pb−1andLint= 8.4 pb−1, respectively. The azimuthally integrated near and away side yields of associated charged hadrons per J/ψtrigger are presented as a function of the J/ψand associated hadron transverse momentum. The measurements are discussed in comparison to PYTHIA calculations.

  3. The production yields of the orbitally excited charm-strange mesons D s 1 ( 1 + ) ( 2536 ) + and D s 2 * ( 2 + ) ( 2573 ) + were measured for the first time in proton-proton (pp) collisions at a center-of-mass energy of s = 13 TeV with the ALICE experiment at the LHC. The D s 1 + and D s 2 * + mesons were measured at midrapidity ( | y | < 0.5 ) in minimum-bias and high-multiplicity pp collisions in the transverse-momentum interval 2 < p T < 24 GeV / c . Their production yields relative to the D s + ground-state yield were found to be compatible between minimum-bias and high-multiplicity collisions, as well as with previous measurements in e ± p and e + e collisions. The measured D s 1 + / D s + and D s 2 * + / D s + yield ratios are described by statistical hadronization models and can be used to tune the parameters governing the production of excited charm-strange hadrons in Monte Carlo generators, such as 8.

  4. The correlations between event-by-event fluctuations of symmetry planes are measured in Pb-Pb collisions at a center-of-mass energy per nucleon pair s N N = 5.02 TeV recorded by the ALICE detector at the Large Hadron Collider. This analysis is conducted using the Gaussian estimator technique, which is insensitive to biases from correlations between different flow amplitudes. The study presents, for the first time, the centrality dependence of correlations involving up to five different symmetry planes. The correlation strength varies depending on the harmonic order of the symmetry plane and the collision centrality. Comparisons with measurements from lower energies indicate no significant differences within uncertainties. Additionally, the results are compared with hydrodynamic model calculations. Although the model predictions provide a qualitative explanation of the experimental results, they overestimate the data for some observables. This is particularly true for correlators that are sensitive to the nonlinear response of the medium to initial-state anisotropies in the collision system. As these new correlators provide unique information—independent of flow amplitudes—their usage in future model developments can further constrain the properties of the strongly interacting matter created in ultrarelativistic heavy-ion collisions.

  5. A<sc>bstract</sc> An angular analysis ofB0→ K*0e+edecays is presented using proton-proton collision data collected by the LHCb experiment at centre-of-mass energies of 7, 8 and 13 TeV, corresponding to an integrated luminosity of 9 fb−1. The analysis is performed in the region of the dilepton invariant mass squared of 1.1–6.0 GeV2/c4. In addition, a test of lepton flavour universality is performed by comparing the obtained angular observables with those measured inB0→ K*0μ+μdecays. In general, the angular observables are found to be consistent with the Standard Model expectations as well as with global analyses of otherb → sℓ+processes, whereℓis either a muon or an electron. No sign of lepton-flavour-violating effects is observed.

A<sc>bstract</sc> A search for the decay$$ {B}_c^{+} $$ B c + → χc1(3872)π+is reported using proton-proton collision data collected with the LHCb detector between 2011 and 2018 at centre-of-mass energies of 7, 8, and 13 TeV, corresponding to an integrated luminosity of 9 fb−1. No significant signal is observed. Using the decay$$ {B}_c^{+} $$ B c + →ψ(2S)π+as a normalisation channel, an upper limit for the ratio of branching fractions$$ {\mathcal{R}}_{\psi (2S)}^{\chi_{c1}(3872)}=\frac{{\mathcal{B}}_{B_c^{+}\to {\chi}_{c1}(3872){\pi}^{+}}}{{\mathcal{B}}_{B_c^{+}\to \psi (2S){\pi}^{+}}}\times \frac{{\mathcal{B}}_{\chi_{c1}(3872)\to J/\psi {\pi}^{+}{\pi}^{-}}}{{\mathcal{B}}_{\psi (2S)\to J/\psi {\pi}^{+}{\pi}^{-}}}<0.05(0.06), $$ R ψ 2 S χ c 1 3872 = B B c + χ c 1 3872 π + B B c + ψ 2 S π + × B χ c 1 3872 J / ψ π + π B ψ 2 S J / ψ π + π < 0.05 0.06 , is set at the 90 (95)% confidence level.

The branching fraction of the decay B + ψ ( 2 S ) ϕ ( 1020 ) K + , relative to the topologically similar decay B + J / ψ ϕ ( 1020 ) K + , is measured using proton-proton collision data collected by the LHCb experiment at center-of-mass energies of 7, 8, and 13 TeV, corresponding to an integrated luminosity of 9 fb 1 . The ratio is found to be 0.061 ± 0.004 ± 0.009 , where the first uncertainty is statistical and the second systematic. Using the world-average branching fraction for B + J / ψ ϕ ( 1020 ) K + , the branching fraction for the decay B + ψ ( 2 S ) ϕ ( 1020 ) K + is found to be ( 3.0 ± 0.2 ± 0.5 ± 0.2 ) × 10 6 , where the first uncertainty is statistical, the second systematic, and the third is due to the branching fraction of the normalization channel. © 2025 CERN, for the LHCb Collaboration2025CERN

  9. Abstract This paper presents the first measurement of$$\psi {(2S)}$$ ψ ( 2 S ) and$$\chi _{c1}(3872)$$ χ c 1 ( 3872 ) meson production within fully reconstructed jets. Each quarkonium state (tag) is reconstructed via its decay to the$${{J \hspace{-1.66656pt}/\hspace{-1.111pt}\psi }} $$ J / ψ ($$\rightarrow $$ $$\mu ^+\mu ^-$$ μ + μ - )$$\pi ^+\pi ^-$$ π + π - final state in the forward region using proton-proton collision data collected by the LHCb experiment at the center-of-mass-energy of$$13\text {TeV} $$ 13 TeV in 2016, corresponding to an integrated luminosity of$$1.64\,\text {\,fb} ^{-1} $$ 1.64 \,fb - 1 . The fragmentation function, presented as the ratio of the quarkonium-tag transverse momentum to the full jet transverse momentum ($$p_{\textrm{T}} (\text {tag})/p_{\textrm{T}} (\text {jet})$$ p T ( tag ) / p T ( jet ) ), is measured differentially in$$p_{\textrm{T}} (\text {jet})$$ p T ( jet ) and$$p_{\textrm{T}} (\text {tag})$$ p T ( tag ) bins. The distributions are separated into promptly produced quarkonia from proton-proton collisions and quarkonia produced from displacedb-hadron decays. While the displaced quarkonia fragmentation functions are in general well described by parton-shower predictions, the prompt quarkonium distributions differ significantly from fixed-order non-relativistic QCD (NRQCD) predictions followed by a QCD parton shower.

  10. Abstract The ALICE Collaboration at the CERN LHC has measured the inclusive production cross section of isolated photons at midrapidity as a function of the photon transverse momentum ($$p_{\textrm{T}}^{\gamma }$$ p T γ ), in Pb–Pb collisions in different centrality intervals, and in pp collisions, at centre-of-momentum energy per nucleon pair of$$\sqrt{s_{\textrm{NN}}}~=~5.02$$ s NN = 5.02  TeV. The photon transverse momentum range is between 10–14 and 40–140 GeV/$$c$$ c , depending on the collision system and on the Pb–Pb centrality class. The result extends to lower$$p_{\textrm{T}}^{\gamma }$$ p T γ than previously published results by the ATLAS and CMS experiments at the same collision energy. The covered pseudorapidity range is$$|\eta ^{\gamma } | <0.67$$ | η γ | < 0.67 . The isolation selection is based on a charged particle isolation momentum threshold$$p_{\textrm{T}}^\mathrm{iso,~ch} = 1.5$$ p T iso , ch = 1.5  GeV/$$c$$ c within a cone of radii$$R=0.2$$ R = 0.2 and 0.4. The nuclear modification factor is calculated and found to be consistent with unity in all centrality classes, and also consistent with the HG-PYTHIA model, which describes the event selection and geometry biases that affect the centrality determination in peripheral Pb–Pb collisions. The measurement is compared to next-to-leading order perturbative QCD calculations and to the measurements of isolated photons and Z$$^{0}$$ 0 bosons from the CMS experiment, which are all found to be in agreement.
